Ernest J. Moeller, 98, of West Point, Iowa, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa.

Born March 18, 1915, in St. Paul, Iowa, he was the ninth out of twelve children born to Theodore and Elizabeth (Fritzjunker) Moeller. At the age of two the family moved to a farm north of West Point where Ernie remained and farmed until his retirement in 1982. He was a lifelong member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.

On March 3, 1943, he married Marcella Freitag and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Ernie was a devoted husband and family man. He enjoyed farming, fishing, reading and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife Marcella of West Point, Iowa, nine children: Tom (Carol) Moeller of Taylors, South Carolina; Joyce (Edward) Roling of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jim (Mary Kay) Moeller of Burlington; Betty (Tom) Pickrell of LasVegas, Nevada; Bob (Sandy) Moeller of West Point; Marylou (Marty) Bentler of St Paul; Ted (Theresa) Moeller of St Paul; Carol (Scott) Ebeling of Muscatine; Donna (Michelle) Moeller of Cedar Rapids. One sister: Mrs. Michael (Martha) Giannini of Chicago, twenty grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Henry, Theodore, Otto, Casper) and six sisters (Cecilia , Veronica, Elizabeth, Mary, Adelaide, Matilda).

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa. Where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that evening. There will be a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa with Father Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.

Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Lee County Hospice.
