Samuel "Wayne" Clark was born in Yellville, Marion County, Arkansas, the youngest of six children born to Richard "Lee" Clark (1864-1910) and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Alexander (1867-1949). He married Kathryne "Pearl" Gilbert (1909-1994) in 1927 in Oklahoma. They were the parents of four children: Billie June Clark (1918-2009); Wayne Clark (1929-2017); Geneva Maxine Clark (1931-1963); and Howard Lee Clark (1937-2013). He and Pearl were divorced about 1941. He was an auto mechanic most of his life and ran his own auto shop in the Sacramento area.
