Kathryn Belk Stilwell

Mrs. Stilwell, age 90, of Matthews, died Friday, January 9, 2004 at her residence. Born December 12, 1913 in Union County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Matthews Wilson Belk and Margaret Long Belk. Mrs. Stilwell retired from the food service of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Following retirement, she took care of elderly people in their homes. Mrs. Stilwell was a charter member of the Church of the Savior. She was a member of the Happy Timers Club.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Kathryn Belk Stilwell will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Mount Harmony Baptist Church with The Reverend N.C. "Buddy" Strickland, The Reverend Chuck Thomas and The Reverend Dr. H. W. "Buddy" Pigg, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM Saturday at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.

Survivors include three daughters, Dixie Wallace of the home, Reba Whited and her husband, Finn, of Indian Trail and Phyllis Speas and her husband, Troy, of Charlotte; three sons, Gerald Stilwell and his wife, Judy, of Matthews, Mitchell Stilwell and his wife, Bonnie, of Monroe, and Jeff Stilwell and his wife, Diane, of New Salem; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and a brother, Roland Belk and his wife, Margie, of Mount Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Stilwell, Jr., a son, Don Stilwell, and seven siblings.
