Walter was the son of Walter H. Sr., and Magda Juve. (Walt was in the First Special Service Force. It was a combined Canadian-American Commando group, and they were the fore-runners of the Green Berets who started in the Korean War. They had the nickname of "The Black Devils". A book was written describing their organization:  A Commemorative History of the First Special Services Force, Taylor Publishing Co., Dallas, Texas. --This information provided by R. Juve.)
He was killed in action during World War II while serving in France at the age of 21. When his father was told of his death, he suffered a heart attack and died also. Magda lived on untill 1990.

Walter was a Private from Ohio serving in the 2nd Regiment, First Special Service Force. He is buried in Rhone, Draguignan, France. The grave maker at Glendale in Akron is mearly symbolic.

In July 2013, the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded, collectively, to the First Special Service Force (FSSF) in recognition of its superior service during World War II. On February 3, 2015 surviving FSSF Veterans were in Washington DC to accept this momentous recognition on behalf of their fellow Forcemen who could not be there.
