Gerald Andrew Friesner was born on May 14, 1922, at Sac City, Iowa to Fred and Nellie (Rodgers) Friesner. He attended rural schools and Sac City High School. After graduation in 1939, he farmed with his father before serving in the US Army during World War II.

On June 30, 1946 he married Wanda June Summers at Sac City. Following their marriage, they lived a few years in Sac City where he waorked as a bookkeeper at the Chevrolet garage. In 1955 he began working for Anton Geiger Income Tax Service in Jackson, Minnesota. A few years later he became the bookkeeper for Tufvesson Motor Co, which later became Tom Burns Ford. He also operated his own tax accounting business, retiring in 1991.

Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and also the Jackson American Legion Post #130 and Jackson VFW Post #900.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Jackson; three daughters and three sons and their spouses, June & Michael Beason of Sumter, SC, Bonnie and Kenneth Thurmer of Jackson, Amy and David Murphy of Gillette, WY, Rick and Sharlene Friesner of Hill AFB in Utah, Kirk and Julie Friesner of Vernon Center, MN, and Kent Friesner of Eagan, MN along with eight grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Emma) Duncan and Mrs. Lucille Moutray, both of Sac City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents
