Lot owner: W.O. Ross

ALSO:

Mrs. Ella E. (Borland) Ross was born July 14, 1867, in the city of Champaign, Champaign County, Ill., and died Friday, October 5, 1900, at Fairmont, Neb., aged 33 years, 2 months and 21 days.

Mr. and Mrs. Ross were united in marriage in the city of Tecumseh, October 31, 1883, near which place they resided until 1891, when they came to make their home on a farm near this city. In January 1892 they became residents of Fairmont and have lived her since.

Mrs. Ross became a member of the Presbyterian Church when but seventeen years of age. She united with the Congregational Church of this place in 1893, and has since been a faithful, consistent member of the same.
She was also a member of the W. C. T. U. and of the Royal Neighbors of America. The latter organization attended the funeral services in a body.

The deceased was the first of a large family of children to pass to the silent land. Two brothers and four sisters, also five half-brothers and a step-mother, together with her husband and an only child, little Ione; and a large circle of friends remain to mourn her loss.

Of Mrs. Ross it could be said she was without an enemy in the world, a friend to everybody and everybody her friend.

In her the community loses a noble citizen and neighbor, the church and societies to which she belonged a valued member, her family a warm-hearted wife and her little daughter, the truest and best of all earthly friends, a devoted, Christian mother.

The funeral services were held at her late residence and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. H. Beaver of the Congregational Church of Fairmont. The remains followed by one of the largest assemblages of relatives and friends ever gathered in this community, were gently laid to rest in the Fairmont cemetery Sunday afternoon, October 7.

That Mrs. Ross and her family hold a very warm place in the hearts of Fairmont people was fully attested by the presence of so many of them and by the many beautiful floral offerings presented. Peace to her ashes and may the remembrance of her many virtues like her presence in life, rest as a benediction of blessing upon her family and friends.
