Funeral Mass for Harold Thomas Hickman, 84, Lawton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Joseph R. Ross, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Hickman died Friday, July 9, 2010, in Lawton.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Becker Memorial Chapel.

He was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to Riley and Cora Nunley Hickman. He came to Oklahoma at the age of 10. He lived in Davis, Hickory and Sulphur, where he graduated high school. He lived in California for a short time and then moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 and discharged in 1945 at the end of WWII. He moved back to Oklahoma City and attended Radio School. In 1950, he moved to Lawton where he was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the service store located downtown on C Avenue. The store later moved to 103 S. 11th Street. He worked there for 41 years. He was known as "Mr. Goodyear" by his faithful customers. He received many honors during his career including the "Spirit Award." He retired in 1991. He became active in the Goodyear Retiree Club and served as treasurer for several years. He was a member of Lawton Schubert Music Club and the Oklahoma and National Federation of Music Clubs. He was a member of the Neighborhood Watch Association of Old Town North and served as treasurer for several years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was the first eucharistic minister appointed by Father Elmer Robnett. He served as an usher for many years. He married Genevieve Schram on Nov. 15, 1954, in Lawton. They had one daughter, Kathryn. His hobby was antique classic cars with his favorite being 1964 Chevrolet Impalas.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter, Kathryn Hickman, Lawton; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Robert E. Hickman, Lawton, and Carl and Colleen Hickman, Norman; a sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Bud Hale, Drytown, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parish Improvement Fund at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; 12 SW 7th Street; Lawton, Oklahoma 73501.
