George A. Kessinger Dies Last Night At Age Of 88
George Albert Kessinger of 310 S. Cullen, a resident of Rensselaer for twenty years and a native of Tippecanoe county where he was born eighty eight years ago, passed away in St. Elizabeth hospital in Lafayette at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, a few days after submitting to a leg amputation and several years of slowly declining health.
Mr. Kessinger had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Goldie Swing, at the above address the past several years.
Mr. Kessinger was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana, August 8, 1872, the son of John Kessinger and Anna (Rauch) Kessinger. He attended the schools of his native county and was married to Miss May C. Reed in a ceremony performed in Jasper county August 11, 1901. His life work was devoted to farming in Arkansas and Union township in Jasper county over a long period of years. Mrs. Kessinger died in 1927.
Mr. Kessinger was a member of the Presbyterian church.
The immediate surviors with Mrs. Swing are a son, Marvin Kessinger, of DeMotte; two step-children, Mrs. Anna Frieden of North Manchester and John Reed of Clinton, Iowa, and a brother, Daniel Kessinger, of Romney, Indiana.
Mr. Kesinger was a men who enjoyed the highest esteem of all. He lived a quiet, constructive life and in every way represented the highest type of citizenship. His exemplary character and his neighborliness and kindness made for him friends of all who knew him.
The funeral services will be held from Jackson Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Loran Campbell of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Welsh cemetery. Friends will be received at the Chapel after 7'o'clock this evening.
