A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano for Edless J. Pitre, 86, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23.
Burial was in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
He was the husband of Winnie Toups Pitre; father of Raymond A., Loveless J. and Kenneth M. Pitre, Elaine Newman and Beverly Boudreaux; stepfather of Lillian Barrios; brother of Harris and Orleans "Tom" Pitre. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lisa Adams Pitre; two brothers, Fedless and Loveless Pitre; three sisters, Mrs. Taylor Guidry, Mrs. Armand Gisclair and Mrs. Frances "Babe" Guidry.
He retired as a boat captain with Otto Candies.
