Harold Clive Ashby

Harold Clive Ashby, 70, died in the Uintah County Hospital of a heart attack April 3, 1980 and was honored by funeral services April 7, in the Maeser Fourth Ward Chapel.

Mr. Ashby was born May 23, 1909 in Vernal to Stephen Wells And Ambrosine Hacking. He married Neva Burton December 21, 1940 in Heber City, Utah. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a sheepherder and rancher.

Bishop George D. Merkley conducted the funeral service. Dee Hall gave the family prayer, and Daun White and Dorothy Peltier Sang, "Home on the Range." Leland McNeil spoke followed by Wayne Hall who sang "Silver Haired Daddy of Mine." Lorin Hacking gave the Benediction.

Ward Ashby dedicated the grave in the Rock Point Cemetery. Pallbearers were Merlin Sinfield, Brad Bullock, Garn Anderson, Troy Burton, Glen Durtz, and T.J. McNeil.

Honorary pallbearers included Bob Langford, Morgan Hall, Marinn Hall, Steve Oldham, Jim Oldham, Cody Jenkins, David Ashby, Dennis Ashby, Gary Ashby and Kenny Ashby.

Survivors are his widow of Vernal; three sons, Burton F. McNeil, Vernal, Clyde H. Ashby, Vernal, and Boyd R. Ashby, Vernal; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ward, of Midvale; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Oldham, Vernal, Mrs. Philip Hall, Vernal.
