Clyde was the youngest of seven children born to Guy Augustus Sackett and Ann Eliza Van Alstyne Sackett. He was raised at Stamford, New York where his father was the owner and operator of farm. Clyde was a resident of South Kortright, New York in 1942 and employed by Martin Brothers when he registered for the World War II military draft. Clyde married to Sylvia Evelyn Johnson on 28 April 1943 at Bloomville, New York. They made their home first at Stamford and relocated to Delhi, New York about 1952. Clyde and Sylvia were the parents of four children.
