He was born to Floyd and Lucy (Hatfield) Massey. In 1948, he married Mary Nichols in Bonita. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from the United States Air Force, after 22 years of service. He had worked in the oil fields and also for Frito Lay and Weber Aircraft.
Survivors include his wife, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, and 3 brothers.
He was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shirlene Harris; brothers, Bobby Massey, Charlie Massey and Leonard Massey; sisters, Rancy Hughes and Joyce Bentley; and two grandchildren.
