"The World", 3 Jun 2002 - Private family graveside services for Velma Gladys Gray, 83, of North Ben, will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay. She was born July 14, 1918 in Bay Springs, MS, to Hill & Beulah {Haire} Sims. She died Dec. 30, 2001, in North Ben. Velma married Forrest Gray on July 29, 1933, in Yuma, AZ. She worked in the shipyards of the San Francisco area during WW II. She worked in a bakery in Merced, CA, before moving to the Coos Bay area in 1966, to be closer to her mother. Velma was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution & was a wonderful cook & quilter. She is survived by her brothers & sisters-in-law, Tony & Lena Sims-North Bend & John & Edna Sims-Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Cheryl & her husband, Roger Goodrich-Oregon City & Rick Gray-Blythe, CA; great-grandchildren, Chad, Jason & Chris Goodrich, all of Oregon City & Ricky & Tiffany Gray-Blythe; great-great-grandson: Kyle Gray-Blythe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest; son: Charles & sisters: Lurlene Sims & Ruth Flud.
