George Acton, 85, of Columbia passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital.
George was born July 3, 1924, in Boone County, to Green Berry and Sally Sarah Calvin Acton; they preceded him in death.
He married Reta Nichols on June 12, 1946. She also preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart.
He enjoyed trout fishing in Bennett Springs, playing pool, going to Bluegrass festivals, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and MU Basketball, and baking.
George is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, thirteen grandkids, eight great-grandchildren, and four siblings.
He is also preceded in death by 12 siblings.
