He was born in Stokes County February 13, 1937, to William Joseph Chaney, Sr. and Lillie Mae Holt Chaney, was retired from Washington Mills, and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Survivors include mother, Mrs. Lillie H. Chaney of the home; four sisters, Peggy Brim, Lorene Brim, Mary Ruths Bullins, and Dorothy Chaney; & two brothers, Benny Chaney and William Joseph Chaney, Jr., all of Madison.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Millard Shelton, the Rev. Herbert Mabe, and the Rev. Billy Nelson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel and other times at residence.
