Opal M. Chappelear, 95 of Zanesville, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2005 at Cedar Hill Care Center, where she has been a resident since 2001. Opal was born April 1, 1910 in Noble County, the daughter of the late John and Maggie Jerles Murrey. She was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church for 79 years, Cen-Tri Sunday School Class, Verla Moore Service Club, United Methodist Women's Circle, salvation Army Auxilliary and Order of Eastern Star Muskingum Chapter 485. Surviving Opal is her daughter, Karole and Michael Swain of Elyria; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Chappelear of Zanesville; grandchildren, Deborah and William Weaver of Lafayette, Ind., Bart and Maureen Swain of Avon Lake, Matt Chappelear of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Mark Chappelear of Zanesville; and great-grandchildren, Kal Weaver, Lain Weaver and Joseph Swain. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Orville F. Chappelear, who died Nov. 10, 1978; a son, William Chappelear, who died Sept 26, 2003; brothers, Lawrence and Howard Murrey; a sister Mary Murrey. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. today, May 10, 2005, at Bryan Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave., with the Rev. Tom England officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
