NORMAL - Helen J. Anderson, 69, of Normal died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Auburn, the daughter of Maurice and Minnie Ruth Duff Charles. She married John Anderson in 1954 in Alameda, Calif.

Mrs. Anderson was a 1953 graduate of University High School and had worked as a switchboard operator for the General Telephone Co. She was a member of many genealogical societies and volunteered for the McLean County Genealogical Society.

Survivors: husband, John; a son, John (wife, Mary) Anderson of Normal; a daughter, Jane (husband, Bruce) Chamberlain of Normal; five grandchildren; a brother, James Robert Charles of Sherman; three sisters, Mary Ward of Irving, Texas, June Smalley of Normal and Kathy Merrill of Havana; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Maurice and John Charles, sisters Dorothy Stoffel and Ruth Miller.

Services: 2 p.m. today, Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Phillip Kaufmann officiating. Burial: Hinthorn Chapel Cemetery, Lake Bloomington
