Frank M. Silkebaken, born March 31, 1920 in Dallas Center, Iowa, passed away on April 8,2010. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Hage Silkebaken, his son Dennis (Barbara)of Clear Lake, Iowa, daughters Marcia Silkebaken (Jack Peter) of Ponte Verda Beach, Flordia, Kristin Zangerle (Grady)of Cedar Rapids,Iowa, and Amy Silkebaken (Earl Collins) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Frank graduated from Dallas Center High School and attendded Simpson College in Indianola and Drake University in Des Moines. After Pearl Harbor Frank enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He fought in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Frank and Charlotte were married in Des Moines in 1946. In 1955 Frank and Charlotte moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa. Frank was a member of (past president) of the BP Rotary Club, the United Methodist Church, and The American Legion. He also served on the BP city council and the BP Airport Commission and while serving on the BP Airport Commission the Industrial Park became a reality. Upon retiring Frank and Charlotte spent there winters in Flordia. The also traveled to see family and friends throughout the U.S. and Norway. In the words of one of his best business and social friends, "Frank was a tough, hardnosed businessman who loved life, loved his family and love his friends. Those were 90 great years of his life.
