Potosi, TX -- Billy Joe Johnson, 66, of Potosi, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at the Potosi Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010, with Pastor Keith Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 18th, at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.

Billy Joe was born in Ranger, TX on August 18, 1943 to William Thomas and Bobbye Joe (Wheat) Johnson. He raised goats and loved to take his boat out and fish after which we would have a fish fry. At every family gathering, Billy Joe was the BBQ King. For fourteen years, he was a long distance driver who had a passion for classic cars. Billy Joe was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; a very unselfish person with everybody, and had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother, Bobbye Joe Williamson of Abilene; wife, Lois (Simmons) Johnson of Abilene; a son, William Neal Johnson of Clyde; a daughter, Christie Diaz and husband, Fernando, of St. Cloud, Florida; one brother, Eddie Frank Williamson and wife, Ina Jo, of Abilene; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Carey Shipley of Aledo, TX; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, and a special cousin, Johnny Merritt.
