Everett Christopher Overman, 78, of Selah passed away November 25 at the Crescent Convalescent Center.

Everett was born in Rainier, OR on March 8, 1912 to Ida and Levi Overman. He was raised in Puyallup, WA., served in the Army at Fort Lewis from 1934 to 1937. He married Dorothy Smith, April 30, 1938 in Puyallup. He spent several years working at Boeing. In 1945, Everett and Dorothy purchased a gas station, cafe and motel near Tacoma, Washington. In 1950, they purchased Byes Market in Renton, Washington. Everett and Dorothy moved to Quincy, Washington in 1953 and bought the Quincy Hotel, Tavern and Cafe. Everett also enjoyed farming and raising cattle, hogs and sheep.

They retired in Anacortes, Washington in 1966. Everett loved to fish and spent a lot of time on his boat. They returned to Eastern Washington in 1975 settling in Selah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; sisters, Jo and Thelma; and one brother, Vern.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Roger Strate of Selah; a daughter, Janice Knox of Lacey, WA; two sisters, Grace Murphy of Fife, WA and Veda Gannon of California; a brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Ruth Overman of Sumner, WA; and five grandchildren.
