He was born May 29th 1918 in Ogden Utah, a son of Royal A. and Leona B. Maddock. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from the University of Utah. He taught in Weber/Ogden School Districts retiring after 30 years.
He was proud to have served his country from 1941-45 in the European Theater where he was awarded the Bronze star.
Upon returning home he married Lois E. Moore in the Salt Lake Temple on September 5th 1947. Together they were the parents of six children, Leslie (Paula), Ogden; Karen (Ken) Henrie, Coalville; Brent (Denise), Centerville; Nancy (Randy) Eckert, Ogden; Doug (Laurie), Brigham; Shelly (deceased). 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren.
Garth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in three bishoprics and several other stake and ward callings. He and Lois served in the Manchester England Mission in 1985-86.
Garth was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Darrell (Dixie) and Russell (Elaine, still living) Maddock and sister Joyce (LaMoine) Wall; one surviving sister Janet (Gary) Jorgensen, Salt Lake City Utah.
Family and friends may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden Wednesday July 7th 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm and prior to the funeral on Thursday July 8th at Lorin Farr Stake Center 470 - 7th Street from 9:30-10:45 with service at 11:00 am.
