Rosemary Porter married Mark D. Rorick in 1946 in Washington, DC. She worked for many years on the Capitol Hill staff of Sen. Vance Hartke of Indiana. After he lost re-election to a fourth term, she retired from the Senate. She then remarried to Malcolm M. Kilduff, former assistant press secretary in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. They moved to her hometown, Beattyville, KY, where they operated a newspaper. She initiated the annual "Wooly Worm Survey" to predict winter weather. It received national coverage.
