Richard D. Hansen, 58, of Minden died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Richard was born Jan. 12, 1952, in Minden to Ingward and Mary (Frecks) Hansen.

On April 23, 1977, he married Deloris Martinez.

Survivors are: sons, Justin Hansen and his wife, Cheryl, of Memphis, Tenn., and Samuel Hansen and his wife, Jessica, of Minden; grandchildren, Autumn, Evalynn and Julia Hansen and Grace and Victoria Hansen; lifelong love, Margaret Loschen Carlson of Minden; ex-wife, Deloris Hansen of Minden; brothers, Ronald Hansen and his wife, Barbara, of Minden and Royce Hansen of Hastings; and sister, Joyce Rundle and her husband, Greg, of Mexico, N.Y.

He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School. In May 1970, he was injured in an implement accident and was paralyzed from the waist down. He spent more than a year in the hospital.

He and Deloris lived in Minden. Richard worked for the Public County Safety Authority in Minden as a police and fire dispatcher for 15 years. He went to work for the Holdrege Police Department as a dispatcher and retired in 2001.

Richard was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden and the Nebraska Emergency Communications Association. He enjoyed competition shooting and attained master class status and a position in the governor's top 20 for the state of Nebraska.

He collected coins and loved cooking, building classic cars, gardening, photography and carpentry.

His family says he was a jack-of-all-trades. Above all, he was devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
