Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Bowman, 89, of the Union B Community near Monterey, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.
Burial was in Welch Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mrs. Bowman died Thursday, April 15 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Born June 8, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late McKinnley and Ida (Murphy) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bluford Bowman; a son, Bluford Bowman Jr.; two sisters, Ethel Buckner and Floreen Martin; three brothers, Lozier Phillips, Homer Phillips, and Thurston Phillips; two grandchildren, Veronica Peterman and Justin Hargis; and a son-in-law, Fred Peterman.
Survivors include three daughters, Velma Hargis and her husband, Odell, of the Union B Community, Juanita Cook and her husband, Mack, of Mt. Juliet, and Anita Peterman of Livingston; a daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Bowman of the Union B Community; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
