GREEN
Dead From Lockjaw
Mr. W. D. Green, one of the best known citizens of the west end, died Saturday night, the result of an accidental gun shot wound received Christmas eve. His son James, had loaded the gun to fire in celebrating the day and it was prematurely discharged. One of the wads passed through the father's felt boot into his foot carrying a piece of the material with it, and lock-jaw set up, causing death. He was buried Monday at Deep Creek graveyard with Masonic honor, he being a member of the Cornishville lodge. He was a Federal soldier and was a prisoner at Andersonville, for some time. The J. J. Mann Post G. A. R., of which he was an active member, met at the court house Monday and passed appropriate resolutions on the demise of their comrade.
