Ward H. Sanford Sr.

A longtime Nunda businessman, Ward H. Sanford Sr., 76, died Friday (Dec. 3, 1976) in his store, Sanford and Son Grocery in Nunda.

Born in the Town of Ossian, he was a lifelong resident of the Nunda area. He was a member of the Nunda United Methodist Church; was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of the Moose organization; a charter member of the Nunda Rotary Club; and was a 50-year member of the Nunda Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Fannie; five sons, Dale of Dalton, Sherman, Adrian and Ward Jr. of Nunda and John of California; three daughters, Mrs. Roberta Willett of Hunt, Mrs. Margaret Underwood of Florida and Mrs. Betty France of Rochester; one sister and four brothers; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted Sunday in Nunda. Burial was in Hunts Hollow Cemetery, Portage.
