MRS. MATTIS, AGED RESIDENT. BURIED YESTERDAY
Mrs. Amanda Jane Mattis, age 81 years and 3 days, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Warren F. Swab, West main Street, shortly before seven o'clock Saturday evening. Although she had been in falling health for some time, her condition had been serious only during the past four weeks. She was a life- long resident of this community and was a life- long of Salem Lutheran Church, town.
Mrs. Mattis was a daughter of the late George and Hannah Deibler and was born in Mifflin Township. March 21, 1853. She was married to John M. Mattis March 27, 1873 who preceded her in death a number of years ago.
Survivors are a son and four daughters: Isaac W. Mattis, Mrs. Gideon Fogelman, Mrs A. W. Hoke and Mrs. W. F. Swab, all of town, and Mrs. Oscar Hoover of Berrysburg. A brother Daniel Deibler of Elizabethville also survives.
Funeral services were held from the Swab residence at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. W. Z. Artz, Salem Lutheran pastor officiated and interment was made in Maple Grove cemetery.
