AUSTIN DAILY HERALD Wed. Sep. 4, 1907

An interesting and pretty wedding took place at high noon today at the Presbyterian Church when Miss Nellie Forrestall and Stuart Evans, and Miss Kate Forrestall and Mr. Henry Guy Ritter were united in marriage by Dr. W.E. Sloane.
There were about one hundred present to witness the church ceremony. The brides were dressed in white silk with lace trimmings and carried bridal roses. Catherine Guy and Lizzie Sheehan acted as bridesmaids. They were dressed white and carried pink roses. Frank Hameltin and Robert Guy attended the grooms.
The ushers who were dressed in white were Emma Dovenberg, Bessie and Avis Howell and Virginia Guy. The Mendelssohn Wedding March was played by Miss Minnie Campbell.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors at which about one hundred guests were present The party numbering about twenty-five went to the house of the brides' uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. James Plum, on Railway Street where the wedding lunch was served. The house had been prettily decorated in flowers. A floral bell was suspended over the table and other decorations were in harmony.
The parties left this afternoon for a short wedding trip. Mr. and Mrs. Ritter go to Fort Dodge and Mr. and Mrs. Evans to New Hampton. They will meet at Marshalltown at the home of their sister Mrs. Scott, and return to Austin for residence. Mr. and Mrs. Evans will reside on Bridge Street and Mr. and Mrs. Ritter on Franklin Street.
The out of town guests were Mrs. S.J. Scott, Mrs. Williams of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Minnie Olson of Lyle.
All parties are well and favorably known in our city. The young men are industrial and trustworthy, Mr. Evans holding a good position in the Packing House and Mr. Ritter acting as day tower man at the CGW Tower House. The young ladies have resided in Austin about two years, making their home with their mother Mrs. Estes. They are workers in the church and Sunday School, and have a large circle of devoted friends.
The Herald joins in hearty congratulations.

AUSTIN DAILY HERALD Sat. July 16, 1910

Mrs. Evans, age 22, died Friday evening at her tent on the banks of Dobbin Creek in Austin, where she was taken about six weeks ago, in the hope that the open air and the quiet surroundings of the woods might prolong her life. Since spring she has been suffering from quick consumption and release from pain came Thursday evening. The body was taken to the home of her aunt, Mrs. James Plum, and the funeral will be held from the Presbyterian Church Sunday.
Nellie was born in Jamestown, Wisconsin, twenty-two years ago. She was married in Austin three years ago the fourth day of next September to Stewart Evans and since then they have made their home in Austin. A baby boy about a year old, who has been with Mrs. Tate in Slaven's Addition during his mother's last illness, survives with her husband, mother, two sisters and a brother. The father died some years ago.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Maccabee Lodge. She was a woman whose sweet and uncomplaining disposition won her friends wherever she is known. Her untimely death brings sorrow and loss to her family.
