Funeral services for Hiram C. "Buster" Shoemaker were held Friday, February 18, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Box Cemetery. Reverend Robert Buttery officiated.
Buster was born on August 27, 1924 at Fairfield, Alabama to Dennis Cleveland Shoemaker & Mamie Estelle (Hendrix) Shoemaker. He passed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 in Vian, Oklahoma after obtaining the age of 80 years.
He joined the United States Navy when he was 17 years old and served his country on the ship LCI 188th where he earned the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate first class during WWII. He trained as a diesel mechanic while in the Navy, and used those skills to earn his living the rest of his life.
Survivors include his daughters, Janet, Jayne, and Mary Anne. Also surviving are sisters Wilma Andrews of Pleasant Grove,AL and Martha Rickles of Orlando, FL., four grandaughters, Jodi, Jennifer, Fallon and Madysn, and five great grandchildren, Zachary, Ashton, Landon, Hanna, and Tanner.
