She was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Rueben and Victoria (LaMont) Araskog. She grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1940. Following graduation she attended Business College in Moorhead, graduating in 1941.
On October 3, 1942, she married Warren Rovang in Fergus Falls. Ruthie was employed as a secretary for Walter Olson in the 1940s and worked for the John Swenson Potato Farms from 1960-1984.
She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and its sewing circle. She enjoyed cooking, bridge club and golfing.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice, or Augustana Lutheran Church both of Fergus Falls.
Preceding her in death were her parents; twin brothers, Warren and Wallace Araskog and her husband, Warren.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Rovang of Fergus Falls; her son, John (Sherri) Rovang of Savage; two grandchildren, Candace and Grant Rovang; her in-laws, Ellen and Al Hexum Jr. of Fergus Falls and Marion Araskog of Otter Tail Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
