Clarence Melvin Archer, son of Clarence Arlo and Goldie Fay Bollman Archer was born December 16, 1935 in Davis County, Iowa. He graduated from Troy, Iowa High School in 1953 and attended school in Cedar Falls and Kirkwood, Missouri . Mel served in the US Army from 1958-1962. Mel was employed as a computer programer for Norand in Cedar Rapids and later Penick & Ford in Cedar Rapids. He retired from the Tipton Moose Lodge as Administrator. Mel was united in marriage to Judith Ann Safley on February 15, 1992 in Tipton, Iowa. He was a member of the Tipton Moose Lodge, Tipton Country Club, American Legion, and Eagles. Mel is loved and survived by his wife, Judith A. Archer of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Kelly Ennis and husband, Kenneth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Gregory Archer and wife, Angie of Tipton, Iowa; step sons, Kirk Reynolds and wife, Jean of Iraq, Cory Barclay and wife, Jodi of Durant, Iowa, Randy Barclay and wife, Becky of Johnstown, Colorado; and 8 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rachael Kroupa Archer; and brother, Donald Crandall. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice in memory of Mel.
