Dorothy Shaffer, 87, of Ockley, Rt. 4, Delphi, died at 6:50 p.m. Sept; 29, 1990, in Milner Community
Health Care Center. She had been a resident of the center
the past nine years.

Born Sept. 21, 1903, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Frank and Mattie Wilcox Brown. She spent most of her life in the Ockley community.

Her marriage was on Dec. 2, 1922, to Arthur "Doc" Shaffer, who died May 17,1982.

During World War II, she worked at Alcoa, and later she was employed at Capehart Radio Parts in Flora.

She was a member of Pyrmont United Methodist Church and Ockley Ladies Aid. In 1988, she was named queen of Milner Health Care Center.

Surviving are one son, James M. Shaffer, Rt. 3, Delphi; two daughters, Marjorie Teel, Rt. 2, Brookston, and Marilyn Baldwin, Rt. 4, Delphi; one sister, Eva I.
Brown, Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, one granddaughter, and two brothers.

Services were Tuesday in Rossville, with burial in Ball Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pyrmont United Methodist Church.
