Annie Ruth Brown Cohen, 91, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at RoseCrest. For 42 years, she was the wife of the late Jacob Cohen who died in 1986. Mrs. Cohen was born January 7, 1919 in Spartanburg County to the late Samuel H. and Amelia Myers Brown. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Amelia R. Cohen of Spartanburg; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jacob, Jr. and Patty Cohen of Oak Harbor, WA, Max and Janice Cohen of Potomac, MD, and William M. Cohen of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

After retiring from the family business in Christiansburg, VA, she returned to Spartanburg in 1981. Mrs. Cohen was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. When not attending to the needs of her family or preparing delicious meals, she really enjoyed playing bridge, working in her yard, and sewing.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Barry Brown and the Rev. Sal Barone officiating.
