OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Oct 30 2002 "Obituaries: Glenn Dobson"
IRON RIVER-Glenn E. Dobson, 68, of 158 Dobson Dr., passed away Oct. 25 at the Iron County General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1934 in Iron River. The son of Marion (Ullius) Dobson and the late John R. Dobson and resided in the Iron River area for most of his life. He attended the Iron River schools and graduated from the Iron River High School in 1952. He attended Escanaba Business College in Escanaba and graduated. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married the former Dolores Doran on Feb. 9, 1956 in Iron River. He started his career as an accountant working for Loia & Peloso Oil Co. His career as a local accountant would span over 40 years. Many of his clients would become lifetime friends. An entrepreneur, he was involved in various businesses throughout his lifetime: the Highway Cafe, Highway Lumber, Glenn's Sub & Pasty Shop, a riding stable, Ironland Disposal, Dobber's Pub and an antique shop. He touched many lives with his kind and generous ways. He retired in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion Alfred Branchini Post No. 17, VFW Ottawa Post No. 3134, and the Iron River Elks Lodge No. 1671. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Leroy and Ellis and a sister Joyce Lofgren.
He is survived by his loving wife; his mother; three sons, David A. of Arlington Heights, Ill., Michael of Iron River and Glenn E. (Donna) of Iron River; a daughter Diane (Louis) Mitchell of Pewaukee, Wis.; a brother-in-law John Lofgren of Iron River; three sisters-in-law, Eunice Palmer and Marion Dobson, both of Iron River and Karen Dobson of Caspian; six grandchildren, Krista (David) Schindler, Laura, Jeremy, Jenny and Jake Dobson, Megan Mitchell; one step granddaughter Heather Wood; one great grandson Christian Dobson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Oct. 28 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dawn Treado-Green officiating.
Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery. The West side Veterans Council accorded military rites.
Pallbearers were Robert Vassar, Terry and Casey Strom, Donald Powell, David Schindler and Mark Stauber.
Organist Luella Ambach performed musical selections, "Amazing Grace", "Just a Closer Walk with Thee", "The Lord's Prayer" and "Wind Beneath My Wings".
