OBITUARY
Mrs. Sam Payne, 1056 Lamar, member of a pioneer Lamar County family, died Tuesday morning in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She was visiting a daughter, Mrs. W. P. Denman, at the time of her death.
The former Lala Biard, Mrs. Payne was a daughter of J. Wash and Molly Biard and grand-daughter of John Gaines Biard, early settlers in the Biardstown community. She was a member of the First Christian Church here.
Survivors other than her daughter in Dallas include another daughter, Mrs. Robert Overcash of Albermarle, N.C.; three grandsons, Robert F. Overcash, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; Harold Payne Overcash of Albermarle; and Sam Payne Denman of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Homer McCartney of Waxahachie, Mrs. John B. Roundtree of Roswell, N.M., and Mrs. Alva A. Abernathy of Richardson.
