Elwin was born March 29, 1918, in Brookfield, Missouri to Olie H. and Clara E. (Rowe) McKenzie. Elwin was a veteran who served his country proudly in the U,S, Army during WWII. He was a Scheme Examiner for the post office for 32 years before his retirement. He was very active in his church. He was a 50-year member and Elder Emeritus of Budd Park Christian Church. He was also Sunday School Superintendent, as well as the Church librarian. He loved Big-Band music and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
His parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his wife of 61 years, Marguerite, preceded him into Heaven.
Elwin M. McKenzie, 84, passed away Friday, January 10, 2003 at The Groves of Independence.
Elwin is survived by one son, Elwin M. McKenzie Jr., of Independence, Missouri; one daughter, Nancy J. Dugan, of Independence, Missouri; two granddaughters, Diana Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri and Julia Sieler of Independence, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren.
