Samuel Boon Wessels was born 10-27-1810 in New York.

The son of Samuel (1789-1850) and Polly Bryant (1887-1857)Wessels.

Samuel married Eliza Ellen Crawford (b. 3-1816-d.7-6-1874)in 1835 in New York.

To this union was born 4 children:

Aaron Wessels b. 1835 in New York d.1906 in Gratiot County, Michigan
Married: 1. Mary Kinter 2. Delphine Payne

James W. Wessels b. 1836 in New York d.1916 in Colorado.
Married: Phoebe Louella Payne James b:12-12-1836 d. 9-30-1916 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, Colorado. At this time nothing more is known about James nor his wife.

Mary Jane Wessels Proctor b. 7-13-1839 in New York d. 1931 in Stockbridge Michigan
Married: George Proctor

Samantha Wessels Spaulding, Dakin, Trefry b. 1842 in Michigan d.1928 in Michigan
Married: 1. Asher Spaulding 2. Alfred Dakin 3. Jacob Trefry

Samuel and Eliza also raised a granddaughter Mattie Spaudling. b.1864 d.1943

The family came to Michigan in 1840.
They settled in Ingham Township, Ingham County, Michigan.

Samuel acquired land in White Oak Township and built the WESSELS INN. A stagecoach stop and inn located on Dexter Trail between Mason and Dexter, Michigan. They lived there until their deaths. Mattie Spaudling Walker Hills lived in the house afterwards until her death in 1943.

He is buried in the Howard Cemetery, Ingham Township, Ingham County, Michigan along side Eliza.
