"At his residence in Boggs Township on Friday the 21st inst. Mr. Austin Curtin in the 70th year of his age.
Mr. Austin Curtin was born in Bellefonte August 26, 1801 and as above stated died at his residence the 21st. His remains were followed to the Grove by the largest funeral procession ever witnessed in Boggs Township thus proving a man who lives spiritually and deals justly with his fellow man will be honored.
Mr. Curtin was a true man, a kind neighbor generous and open hearted, beloved by all who knew him. Mr. Curtin was a brother of the Messieurs Curtin, proprietors of the Eagle Iron Works and half-brother to Ex-Gov. A. G. Curtin and present US Minister to Russia." Bellefonte Reporter, July 26, 1871.
