James Robert "Jim" Wood, 83 years of age, of Burnside, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, July 11th, 2010.

Jim was born on August 19th, 1926 in Marshes Siding, Kentucky, the son of Robert Andrew Jackson Wood and Carrie Mabel Price Wood. He was retired from the military and farming. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post No#38 and of the Baptist faith.

Jim was survived by his loving wife, Retha Hatfield Wood, whom he married on July 12th, 1997 in Frazier, Kentucky; four brothers, Bob Wood, Stanley Wood, John Wood, and Ron Wood; three sisters, Irene Meadows, Helen Peterson, and Faye Phillips; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Andrew Jackson Wood, who departed this life on April 7th, 1987 and Mabel Carrie Wood, who departed this life on May 2nd, 1999; and one brother, Marvin Lewis Wood, who departed this life on April 21st, 1974.

Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14th, 2010 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Baker and Bro. David Muse officiating.

Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery in Pine, Knot, Kentucky. The American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard conducted full military honors for James.
