13, 1853, on the old homestead of her father, Abraham
Lehman, deceased, which is now included in the corporation
of Berne, and died May 1, 1902 at5 the home of her bereaved
husband northeast of town, aged 48 years, 5 months and 18
days.
The deceased was joined to the Mennonite Church at Berne
in her early maidenhood of which she has been a faithful
member until death, before her taking upon her the noble
duties of a faithful wife having been prominent in Sunday
school and church work.
Deceased became Mrs. Habegger in January, 1888 and
shared joys and trials with her devoted husband a little over
fourteen years. She became mother to five children, three
daughters and two sons, who are now all mourning with their
father over the loss of a loving mother. Besides those there
are four brothers and three sisters surviving her.
The funeral took place Sunday forenoon from the
Mennonite Church, being attended by a great concourse of
people. Rev. S. F. Sprunger preached a very appropriate
funeral sermon the subject, The Christian's composure in
parting. The departed suffered very severely and long and
yet bore her suffering with Christian patience.
