AGED SCOTT COUNTY LADY PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Martha Nottingham dies at Age of 96 — Funeral Services Held This Morning
Death of another aged Scott county woman occurred yesterday when Mrs. Martha N. Nottingham passed away at her home in Nottingham Station. Funeral services were held this morning, burial taking place near the residence. Rev. Stewart conducted the services.
Mrs. Nottingham was in her ninety sixth year and was a member of one the most prominent families of her community. Her husband, George H. Nottingham, preceeded her to the grave.
Mrs. Nottingham was born in Lee County, Va., and was married to George H. Nottingham, 75 years ago. Prior to the Civil war the family moved to Scott county. Before, and during the war, Mr. Nottingham operated a leather tannery near his home. The deceased and her people have had a wonderful influence on the character and development of the people in that section of Scott county. Mrs. Nottingham was a noble Christian woman, having been a member of the M. E. church for three-fourths of a century.
Mrs. Nottingham was the grandmother of Paul Nottingham, local barber.
