John Frank Black, 78, of Tulsa passed from this life Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born July 3, 1932 in Tulsa the son of Roscoe and Grace (Howe) Black. John graduated Central High School in 1950 and later attended the University of Tulsa. He formerly co-owned Allen's TV and Appliances for 30 years with his first wife, Ruth. John was a US Army veteran and defended his country during the Korean Conflict. When son, Eric was growing up he coached his sports teams. He loved boating, scuba diving, sailing and basically anything that involved the ocean. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. John was preceded in death by both of his parents; 2nd wife, Ruth Ellen Black; and 3 sisters. His survivors include his son, John Eric Black and wife, Teresa of Tulsa; daughter, Teresa Hardy and husband, Richard of Tulsa; brother, Paul Roscoe Black Sr. of London, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nikki Schultz and husband, Zach of Tulsa and Katherine Black of Tulsa; great grandsons, Jack and Zane Schultz of Tulsa; and 1st wife and mother of his children, Ruth M. Black of Tulsa. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm, Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Father Joseph Alsay will officiate. A graveside committal with military honors will follow the service.
