Services to celebrate the life of Neil Kennard Fuqua, 63, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at W. W. Rix Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Concorde Cemetery in Iola under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors, Lubbock. Mr. Fuqua died Feb. 18, 2006.

He was born Sept. 16, 1942 in Navasota. Neil attended the University of Houston. He married Virginia Robinson in 1972. He started his own business Tom-Ken Printers. Moving to New Braunfels, he then worked at General Portland Cement, advancing in the company to Assistant Plant Manager, until his retirement. After retirement, Neil and Virginia moved to Lubbock and along with their son, Mike, opened Bash Riprock's Bar and Grill, Lubbock's oldest college bar. Neil was best known for his storytelling and he always had a good joke.

Survivors include his mother, Esta Fuqua of Anderson; a son Mike and wife Dawn of Lubbock; two daughters, Nora Fuqua of Houston and Dayna Beebe of Pineland; and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Jackylen Beebe.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, on Jan. 31, 2003, and his older brother, Jimmy Ashford Fuqua.
