M. Ruth Jennings, 82, died at 2:45 p.m. July 13, 2010, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Mercer County to Philip F. and Susan Douglas Lee, who preceded her in death. In June 1946, she married Roger E. Jennings, who died in 1989.

Mrs. Jennings was founder, owner and operator of Ruth's Bridal & Costume Rental Store. She had been a Cub Scout leader and had received several awards for her service. She loved reading, sewing and worked search puzzles. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whom she loved very much. She never met a stranger. She is going to be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include two daughters, Barb Greene and Connie (Tom) Hedges; three sons, John (Robin) Jennings, Donald (Lori) Jennings and Bill (Melody) Jennings; 14 grandchildren, Rick (Jen) Lyle, Dan (Phyllis) Lyle, Deb (Lon) Stachowiak, Bobbie Crist, Kim (Todd) Shaner, Jamison Jennings, Janelle (Matt) Roth, Alishia (Chris) Johnson, Bradley (Becky) Jennings, Kelli (Bob) Hauenstein, Tiffany Jennings, Heather Jennings, Joey (Jennifer) Hedges and Chris Hedges; 22 great-grandchildren, Tyler Hedges, Chase Hedges, Jordan Hedges, Ashley Lyle, David Burgess, Beth Burgess, Sabrina Crist, Jessica Crist, Brandi Crist, Emily Lyle, Danny Lyle, Austin Shaner, Courtney Shaner, Madison Roth, Blake Roth, Alanna Johnson, Keira Johnson, Aiden Johnson, Stephen Mahalia, Jacob Hedges, Jenna Hedges and Josh Hedges; and two great-great-grandsons, twins Colton and Dalton Hopson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward C. Jennings; two sisters, Margaret Lusk and Susan McKinley; and five brothers, the Rev. Charles, Baccle, Pete, Paul and Dewey Lee.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Phillip Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery, Cairo.
