Oscar was born on the Anderson homestead and lived there most of his life. He helped his father farm (except for a short while when he attended Yankton College) and when his father retired to Yankton, he and his brother, William, worked the farm together. William died in 1924 and Oscar remained on the farm with William's widow, Margret and helped raise William and Margret's seven children until they were grown. He was very active in his church and community activities.
He was buried on May 22, 1957 in the family plot at Yankton Cemetery.
