Daughter of Stephen Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Jones Boineau. Mary married David Absalom Gasque in 1862.

LUDOWICI – Mrs. Mary E. Gasque, native of South Carolina, was buried in Jones Creek Cemetery near here Tuesday afternoon following the funeral service which was conducted here by the Rev. C. W. Jordan, pastor of the Ludowici Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. E. L. Harrison, pastor of the Ludowici Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gasque, who was born 86 years ago at Salkehatchie, SC, was before her marriage Miss Mary Boineau of French Huguenot extraction. Mr. Gasque, who was with General Hadgood of South Carolina throughout the War Between the States, died about 45 years ago, leaving his widow with two small children.

Mrs. Gasque was a woman of culture and refinement, and was deeply interested in her church, having united with the Methodist Church when 9 years of age. She came here more than a year ago to live with her daughter, Mrs. S. M. Gilbert, and Mr. Gilbert. The greater part of her life was spent in Charleston, but later she had lived at Laurens SC, and Jesup, Ga.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. S. M. Gilbert, a son, C. H. Gasque of Laurens SC, a sister, Mrs. W. G. Riley of Varnville, four brothers, Steven Boineau and Marion D. Boineau, both of Columbia, C. E. Boineau of Pocotaligo and F. G. Boineau of Orangeburg.
