Age 56, said to be the son John Housel and Hannah Mandeville

NOTE:
Though it is certain by the notice in the 'Danville Intelligencer' shown below, that William L HOUSEL died on August 3, 1849, at one time it was less certain where the ultimate final resting place was. When this memorial was originally created it was for William L. HOUSEL buried at Newton Union Cemetery (Newton, Iowa) with his wife Julia. Apparently his burial at Newton, Iowa, is listed in the records of that cemetery. However, with the facts shown below (and now with the photo of Wm L's grave marker provided by Barry Keefer in the Harmony Cemetery), we believe that William is buried at Harmony.

- We know that Wm L's son Cephas did not move to Iowa until after 1852 (the birth of his daughter Emeline).
- We know that William's wife Julia, is listed living without William, but with her daughter in the 1850 Census at Lewisburgh, Union, PA.

We have seen no record for the removal of William L. Housel's body from Harmony Cemetery. Milton, Northumberland, PA.

NOTE THAT TWO PHOTOS LEFT BY RICHARD WESTON ARE FROM THE IOWA CEMETERY WHERE HIS WIFE RESTS. THESE WERE LEFT ON THIS PAGE WHEN MANAGED BY RICHARD AND WHEN THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE POINTED TO A BURIAL IN IOWA. THE CURRENT MANAGER OF THIS PAGE HAS NO WAY TO REMOVE THESE PHOTOS.
