"Art" coming from a farming family, was one of eight children of Charles Lewis Edwards Hendren and Mary Pleasant Lonis Hendren of Licking Township. He was married to Minnie Katherine Gerlach and they had four children: Robert, Elmer, Bernice and Mabel. He never remarried after losing his beloved wife in 1920, and lived on his farm alone until his death.
