Mrs. Belle Barkman, 80, widow of the late Charles Barkman, died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient since May 12. Mrs. Barkman was born May 25, 1867, near Newtown, daughter of John and Lucinda Wallen. She was married March 25, 1886, to Charles Barkman, who died Feb. 12, 1944. Mr. and Mrs Barkman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. Mrs. Barkman spent her entire life in the Collison community and was a member of the Collison Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Stella Albert, Danville; a son, Roy Barkman, Rossville; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Cade, and a brother, Edward Wallen, both of Danville, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Barrick & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. J. T. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Collison Cemetery. DANVILLE COMMERCIAL-NEWS, 9 June 1947.
