John Thurman Long, 90, of Wayne, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 11:52 a.m. at Blakely Care Center in North Baltimore.
He was born June 6, 1916 in Portage Twp. (Wood County) to the late Alex T. and Florence D. (Howe) Long. He married Nellie Ethel Beaverson on Jan. 20, 1937 in Angola, Ind. and she died on Aug. 23, 1983.
Survivors include 20 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers George A. Long and Raymond L. Long; and sisters Bernice Instone; Rachael Tyson; and Kietha Rose.
Mr. Long was a retired farmer, member of Gleaners, and social member of the Portage American Legion. He was all county in basketball in 1933.
Funeral service and burial were held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10:30 a.m. in Webster Township Cemetery, Wood Co., with Rev. Ron Merritt officiating.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 6, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne.
